MIL-PRF-58111A(CR)
3.7.6 Securing of parts. Brackets, lugs, inserts, bolts, and other mounting arrangements
shall retain items securely when subjected to specified environmental and field service conditions.
3.7.7 Front panel. The equipment shall have an integrally illuminated front information
panel. The panel shall have white legends against a black background for daylight operation and
shall have green primary lighting for night operation, to provide compatibility with night vision
goggles. The panel lettering font shall be Alternate Gothic No. 3.
3.7.8 Reliability. The equipment shall have a Mean-Time-Between Failures (MTBF, θ1)
of at least 3,500 hours when subjected to ambient air temperature between -65.2°F to 131°F
operating at 100% duty cycle (5 minutes receive and 1 minute transmit) in an airborne
environment.
3.7.9 Chromaticity and spectrum. Normal legend illumination shall be ANVIS GREEN A
with U' coordinate of .099, V' coordinate of .544 and a radius of .034 on the 1976 UCS
chromaticity diagram measured at 0.1 ft. lambert display luminance. The spectral radiance shall
be such that the ANVIS RADIANCE (AR) shall not exceed 1.7 x 10-10 AR when illuminated to
produce 0.1 ft. lambert (FL) display luminance.
3.7.10 Brightness. The brightness shall be 1.0 ± 0.5 foot-lamberts at nominal panel
supply voltage.
3.7.11 Power. Panel lighting shall be operable from the 28 volt dc or 5 volt dc/ac
(400 Hz) aircraft source. Green panel lighting equipment shall also be operable from the 115V ac
(400 Hz) or 28 volt dc aircraft source.
3.7.12 Panel protection. The CSC shall be designed so that each panel type, i.e., 5 volt,
28 volt, or 115 volt, receives its power over a separate power input pin, both at the input
connector J1 and, at the panel connector. This is required to prevent damage to the CSC should
it inadvertently be installed in the incorrect aircraft.
The following pins are designated for panel illumination in input connector J1:

3.7.13 Alternate front panel red. As specified in the contract or purchase order, units
shall have an alternate integrally illuminated front information panel. The panel shall have white
